UNIQLO THE SECOND CHAPTER
Transforming UNIQLO's printed magazines into a second life communication tool by recycling unsold or returned magazines into small, collectible zines. These zines will educate customers about UNIQLO's sustainability commitments while demonstrating circular design in action.

Project Concept: UNIQLO magazines will be collected and recycled through a traditional paper making process, where pages are shredded into pulp and formed into new sheets of handmade paper. Finished with natural deckle edges, each sheet celebrates the beauty of recycled materials and the craft behind its creation. The paper will then be used to produce small zines that share stories about UNIQLO's sustainability efforts, including garment longevity, responsible production, and circular design.
To extend the project beyond the printed zines, UNIQLO will host monthly workshops where customers will be invited to bring old magazines and paper waste from home. Participants will learn paper making, collage, and simple bookbinding techniques to create their own personalized zines. By actively repurposing materials, customers become part of the sustainability journey, reinforcing the idea that every discarded page can begin a second chapter.

Project Summary: The Second Chapter is a sustainability initiative for UNIQLO that gives a new life to discarded magazines by transforming them into handmade zines. The project aims to reduce paper waste while raising awareness of UNIQLO's commitment to sustainability through a creative and interactive experience. By repurposing existing materials into educational publications, the initiative encourages customers to see waste not as an end, but as the beginning of a new story not only for the brand but also for their own closet.
