THE BRIEF

Create a bold, minimalist photo series capturing the Mooncake Festival through simplified forms and a strict palette of primary colors. The aim is to reinterpret traditional festival elements with a modern, graphic aesthetic that emphasizes shape, light, and visual impact rather than ornate detail that can be showcased across social media.

THE CONCEPT

The concept reduces the festival to its most iconic symbols such as mooncakes and circular moon motifs. They are expressed through strong geometry and pure primary colors. By stripping each image down to essential shapes and shadows, the series transforms cultural rituals into striking, contemporary visual icons.

EXCECUTION

The imagery is created using a solid grey backdrop with red/blue hard directional lighting and clean compositions with large areas of negative space. The  traditional elements are centered, silhouetted and tightly framed to highlight bold shapes and sharp contrasts. This results in a graphic, poster like set of photographs that feel modern, minimal, and instantly memorable.
