THE BRIEF

Project: Spotify Cover Art – Rocket Girl Original Score
Client: Davy Bridgwood, Music Composer

The objective was to design Spotify cover artwork for composer Davy Bridgwood’s original score for the short film Rocket Girl. The visual needed to reflect the emotional tone and narrative arc of the film, while also capturing the unique qualities of Bridgwood’s musical style. The final artwork had to work effectively within Spotify’s format and resolution specifications.

THE CONCEPT

The design approach centered on visually translating the film’s mood and story into a single compelling image. The artwork aimed to mirror the emotional landscape of Rocket Girl through a carefully considered combination of composition, color theory, and texture along with elements that also echoed the score’s musical motifs. The concept focused on achieving a strong emotional resonance and visual depth, aligning the aesthetic with both the cinematic themes and the expressive tone of Bridgwood’s compositions.

THE EXECUTION

A balanced layout was used to convey a sense of narrative and emotional progression, subtly nodding to key story elements. A curated palette and layered textures were also applied to evoke mood and atmosphere, enhancing the emotional weight of the piece.

The artwork was designed within Spotify’s technical parameters, ensuring clarity, impact, and recognizability at various sizes across digital platforms. The result was a cover that seamlessly bridged the world of film and music, offering listeners a visual entry point into the sonic and narrative universe of Rocket Girl.
